Our Journey

Abby was born September 23, 2010, weighing 3 lbs. 5 oz. and was 15 in. long. At 21 weeks (prenatal) we learned of her diagnose of Trisomy 18 or Edwards Syndrome. Abby wasn’t expected to live until term, but she did. She wasn’t expected to endure delivery, but she did. She wasn’t expected to live 24 hours, but she did. Abby blessed the world with 12 days of life.

The day we learned of Abby's diagnosis, we were driving home from the doctor and this song played on KSBJ. From that point on, it became our family theme song and was even played at Abby's funeral. Every word of this song spoke to our story and touched our heart in a way we had never expereinced...as if the song were written for us, to be played on that day, at that time.

Little did we know the power it took to rise and find the strength to move forward. The song served as our reminder that if we have Faith, that even though our sky was falling that miracles really do happen, that hope is real and doesn't ever end, that silent prayers really do get answered, and broken hearts can be healed.  That the sun does shine again and new beginnings always come from our ashes...if we are willing to embrace them.  That the purest form of love can come from a 3.5 lb little girl who spoke volumes of what holiness truly is, yet never spoke a single word or quoted a single scripture. That life really is so much more than our human eyes can see. That God calls us to face the clouds so He can offer, with ourstretched hands, our silver lining. That when the world said our baby may only live minutes, divine Grace steps in and gave us 12 days. That purpose isn't something that we search for, purpose is found when we lose sight of self and set our eyes on serving others. And, that there are times in life where blind and pure Faith truly is all that you have.Today, when we hear this song, we smile and remember the joy of the sweetest angel that ever lived.

What Faith Can Do by Kutless

Everybody falls sometimes

Gotta find the strength to rise

From the ashes and make a new beginning

Anyone can feel the ache

You think it’s more than you can take

But you're stronger, stronger than you know

Don’t you give up now

The sun will soon be shining

You gotta face the clouds to find the silver lining

I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains

Hope that doesn’t ever end even when the sky is falling

I’ve seen miracles just happen

Silent prayers get answered

That’s what faith can do

It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard, impossible is not a word

It’s just a reason for someone not to try

Everybody’s scared to death

When they decide to take that step

Out on the water

It’ll be alright

Life is so much more than what your eyes are seeing

You will find your way If you keep believing

When the world says you can’t

It’ll tell you that you can!

Even if you fall sometimes You will have the strength to rise
